DMC Youth Forum a Success
Mar 5th, 2012 | By crispusattucks | Category: EventsThis year’s annual DMC Youth and Law Enforcement Forum was held on Friday, May 4, 2012 at Millersville University. Middle school students, including those who have had positive as well as those with not-so-positive interactions with law enforcement, were selected to participate. They joined members of Lancaster City Police, staff from the Lancaster County Juvenile Probation Office, and community leaders in a day-long event highlighted by a motivational speech by Jordan Steffy of the Children Deserve a Chance Foundation. Crispus Attucks Community Center originally spearheaded this collaborative effort to offer a forum for law enforcement and African American and Latino youth to interact and have dialogue. The purpose is to identify and address the issues that contribute to the disproportionate representation of minority youth in Lancaster’s juvenile justice system.
