Wall of History Will Tell Fascinating Stories
Mar 5th, 2012 | By crispusattucks | Category: NewsIn order to document the rich history of the Southeast Area of Lancaster City, the Southeast Area Wall of History will display the many stories about “they way it was” growing up, doing business, worshiping, and living in this fascinating neighborhood. The wall will be located inside Crispus Attucks Community Center, and will hold over 200 plaques documenting the stories of the diverse group of families, businesses, organizations and churches that began their journeys toward fulfilling their dreams here in this neighborhood. Pictured is a photo of Ebenezer Baptist Church, the oldest predominately African-American congregation in Lancaster, which began with only fifteen faithful believers in 1900 in a home on Strawberry Street. This church joins other churches, businesses, families, and individuals who have signed up to tell their stories on the Wall. For information, call 394-6604, ext. 125.
