Participants from our Therapeutic African Drumming Program, The Healing Drum, performed at our Annual Meeting on August 25 at Trinity Lutheran Church. This program is sponsored by a generous family from the church, and is coordinated by Shaeeb Abdus Abdur, a Baba (therapeutic drumming teacher).  “The Healing Drum” promotes self-esteem, skill-building, cooperative learning, and perhaps most importantly – fun. Music performance offers children new and different experiences that empower them throughout their lives. The program meets twice weekly as an after-school program at the Center, and three of its participants are pictured above.
